Haddenham residents can now apply for an Energise Buckinghamshire solar panels and battery storage system from Buckinghamshire Community Energy (BCE) with no upfront costs!

Introduced in April 2026, the Energise Buckinghamshire scheme is the county’s first community-owned solar project. It aims to bring affordable, renewable energy directly into local homes.

In the initial phase, Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels will be installed alongside home battery storage systems on 100 properties. Haddenham is a key focus, with 50 homes in the village set to benefit. Weston Turville will host the remaining 50 installations before the programme expands further across Buckinghamshire.

Homeowners can participate without any upfront cost, as the systems are fully funded by community investment.

Residents will be able to use solar energy generated during the day and store surplus electricity for use during peak times. It means households will be able to take advantage of lower-cost, off-peak tariffs to improve overall energy efficiency and costs.

Benefits for Haddenham

Haddenham homeowners will not only benefit individually from reduced energy costs, they will also be contributing to the village’s community efforts to cut carbon emissions and improve energy resilience.

If you’d like to find out more, Buckinghamshire Community Energy is holding a local information event at Haddenham Airfield Pavilion on Thursday 21st May, 7-8.30 pm. You’ll learn about the technology, eligibility criteria, and application process. Admission is free. Reserve your place here.

If you are interested in taking part in the scheme, you can submit an initial application through Buckinghamshire Community Energy, while further details about the scheme and upcoming expansion plans are available via the BCE website.
