ABOUT US
Phoenix Energy Community was incorporated as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in October 2024.
The group formed in 2023, joining together members of local environmental groups: Thame Green Living, Green Crendon, and Zero Carbon Haddenham. Embracing the collaborative nature of community energy initiatives across the country, each of the three groups saw the benefits of joining together to work on energy projects, enabling resources to be pooled, knowledge shared and potential funding opportunities explored on a larger scale than any of the groups could do individually.
OUR 2035 VISION
Our vision is that everyone in our communities has an energy efficient home and all organisations have energy efficient buildings, powered by renewable energy. This vision will be enabled by:
Resilient Locally Generated
Renewable Energy
Collaborative
Retrofit Solutions
Engaged & Energy Literate
Community
And underpinned by our three guiding principles:
EQUITY
everyone should benefit from this community-based energy transistion
AFFORDABILITY
local projects should provide low-cost energy to community members
COLLABORATION
working together – beyond individual households and organisations – to make our communities better
The vision is fully aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable & Clean Energy
THE TEAM

What’s in a name? The mythological phoenix – as represented in our logo – is an immortal bird that cyclically regenerates. In this cycle, our phoenix is regenerating from the ashes of the fossil fuel industry, to provide clean, renewable energy using the power of the sun, wind and water.
The other obvious geographic association is with the Phoenix Trail, the traffic-free walking and cycling path that links a number of our local communities together.
The use of ‘Energy Community’ rather than the more common ‘Community Energy’ is very deliberate.
Communities and people are at the heart of our vision.
In determining projects to focus on, maximising the benefits delivered to people will be the number one criteria on which they will be judged.
