Powering Up
Powering Up is about increasing local renewable generation, with the ultimate ambition to generate as much energy locally as the community uses. Renewable energy generation can be done by individual households, by organisations and as a community.
Underlying principle: where communities host clean energy infrastructure, they should benefit from it. Phoenix Energy Community projects will all focus on maximising benefit to the community, without negative impacts on biodiversity.
These benefits will either be derived directly, with reduced costs and reduced environmental impacts of locally produced renewable power (once legislation allows), or indirectly through contribution to the Phoenix Energy Community Fund used to fund energy efficiency projects.
